Kriss Super V System from TDI, Inc.

Weapons of the future are being made in our own backyard. It took Virginia Beach company "TDI" five years of prototypes and research to create what it calls the "Kriss Super V System."

There are lots of companies out there making weapons to be used in the War on Terror. Thursday, WAVY.com got a look at the latest technology.

It's all about more rounds, on target, more of the time. At Blackwater USA's firing range in Moyock, North Carolina, it looked sounded and smelled like a war zone, but this was no army. From the novice to the experienced surrounded by spent shell casings, Reporters, producers and photographers loaded magazines, took aim and fired.

At our disposal, Virginia Beach company TDI's Kriss Super V System. A new, patented technology that promises you can't miss.

The laws of physics come into play when your firing a traditional rifle, the weapon tends to go back and the muzzle up, but with Kriss technology the energy is redirected downward, making your shot and weapon more controllable.

Whether you're a woman protecting your home or a private security contractor protecting a convoy, TDI plans to sell different versions of its weapons to both.

"They all have a job to do and what we aim to do is to give them the best piece of technology that in our opinion is superior to what they have that allows them to do their job better faster and come home to their families maybe more rapidly and safely."

The weapons fired Thursday weigh about 5 pounds. TDI says by the time they hit the market in '08 they'll weigh even less.

As of now, the company says it has not secured a contract with Blackwater USA or any other private security firm working in Iraq.
